Government RelationsMission Statement"To protect and advance the agenda of the industry before state and local government."
OVERVIEW It is the belief of FIA that only through a unified industry committed to keeping all levels of grocery distribution free from undue government intervention can the industry do what it does best --- compete openly in the marketplace to the ultimate benefit of the consuming public by delivering a wide variety of wholesome and affordable products. To work toward this goal, FIA maintains continuous information channels with its membership through the following "Members Only" publications.
As a special service to members, archived copies of FoodScan and "Fast Food Facts" will be made available by calling FIA's headquarters at 518-434-1900. Non-members interested in receiving a sample copy of either publication, please click on FoodScan or "Fast Food Facts" to access a back issue.
To develop government relations policy and thoroughly evaluate industry positions on both the legislative and regulatory fronts, FIA has organized several committees and task forces. Chief among these groups is the Government Relations Committee. Also active on the technical issues of store sanitation, food handling/preparation and store inspection procedures is the Food Safety Committee. And, currently, FIA has a Wine Task Force directing the proactive issue of expanding wine sales to off-premise beer licensees which include grocery stores, convenience stores and drug stores.
